Wells is a town in southern Cherokee County in the Piney Woods of East Texas, roughly 65 miles south of Tyler. It lies in the rolling, heavily wooded country of the region, where pine and hardwood forest and small farms cover the landscape. The town sits in a rural stretch of deep East Texas, with the larger cities of Tyler and Longview off to the north amid the timbered hills.
