Lufkin, Texas

Lufkin sits in the heart of the East Texas Piney Woods, the seat of Angelina County, about 79 miles southeast of Tyler and surrounded by dense pine forest and the Angelina and Neches river country. The city grew up around the timber industry, and lumber, paper, and wood products have long anchored its economy. It is home to the Texas Forestry Museum and lies near the Angelina National Forest and the reservoirs of the region.
