Waskom sits in eastern Harrison County, in the Piney Woods of East Texas near the eastern edge of the state, about 40 miles east of Longview. A crossroads town on Interstate 20 surrounded by pine forest and rolling farmland, it is one of the first Texas communities travelers reach on the highway entering the state from the east.
