South Houston, Texas

South Houston is a small incorporated city in Harris County, in the built-up area southeast of downtown Houston roughly 11 miles from the city center and about 8 miles from Pearland. It sits on the flat coastal plain of the upper Gulf Coast in the industrial southeastern part of the metropolitan area, near the refineries and petrochemical plants of the Houston Ship Channel corridor. The city grew as a working-class residential community amid the surrounding industry and today has a large Hispanic population.
