Runge, Texas

Runge is a small town in Karnes County, in the South Central region southeast of San Antonio, set in the rolling farm and brush country between the coastal plain and the South Texas ranch lands. It grew up as a railroad town along the line that once ran through the county, and its economy has long rested on farming, ranching, and later oil and gas from the surrounding fields. The town takes its name from Henry Runge, an early merchant and banker whose company helped establish the community.
