Royse City lies along Interstate 30 on the northeastern edge of the Dallas–Fort Worth region, spanning parts of Rockwall and Collin counties about 24 miles southeast of McKinney. Founded as a railroad and farming town on the blackland prairie, it has grown steadily as the metroplex has pushed eastward, becoming a fast-developing bedroom community.
