Nevada is a small city in Collin County, in the blackland prairie of North Texas about 19 miles east of Plano and a similar distance southeast of McKinney. The surrounding countryside is farmland and pasture on the fast-growing eastern edge of the Dallas area. It remains a small rural community, though development has spread outward toward it from the metroplex.
