Set in the gently rolling farm and timber country of Rains County in East Texas, Point lies about 46 miles east of Garland and roughly 50 miles east of Plano. The town sits in a landscape of pasture, small woodlots, and stock ponds near the upper Sabine River drainage, close to the reservoir country of Lake Tawakoni to the south. It remains a small rural community surrounded by ranchland and hay fields.
