Point Comfort, Texas
Point Comfort occupies a low, flat point of land on the east side of Lavaca Bay, part of the Matagorda Bay system, in Calhoun County on the Texas coast about 78 miles northeast of Corpus Christi. The town grew up around heavy industry on the bay, long anchored by a large Alcoa aluminum works and later by a major Formosa Plastics chemical complex, and shipping moves through the nearby port on the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway. The setting is one of coastal marsh, open bay water, and industrial waterfront.
