Orchard is a small rural community in Fort Bend County, about 20 miles west of Sugar Land on the flat coastal prairie southwest of Houston. The surrounding land is largely agricultural, a mix of cropland and pasture along the Brazos River bottomlands. It lies on the outer western edge of the greater Houston region, where suburban growth gives way to open farm country.
