Lavon is a city in Collin County, in the DFW / North Texas region, roughly 14 miles east of Garland on the blackland prairie northeast of the metroplex. It sits near Lavon Lake, a large reservoir on the East Fork of the Trinity River built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flood control and water supply. The lake's shoreline draws anglers and boaters, and the town has grown as development spreads outward from the Dallas area.
