Navasota, Texas

Navasota lies in the wooded country of the Brazos Valley about 22 miles southeast of College Station, near where the Navasota and Brazos rivers run through the transition between Central Texas and the East Texas timber belt. The town grew as a railroad and cotton-shipping point, and its old brick downtown reflects that trade-era history. It is widely associated with the Texas blues tradition, and a statue of explorer Robert de La Salle stands in the town in reference to the region's early history.
