Lometa is a small city in Lampasas County, set on the divide between the Central Texas Hill Country and the rolling plains to the west, about 40 miles west of Killeen. The town lies in ranching country along a rail line, in terrain of grassland, brush, and low hills. It serves as a small trade and shipping point for the surrounding cattle country.
