Lamesa, Texas

Lamesa is the seat of Dawson County, on the flat, semiarid South Plains of West Texas, about 51 miles north of Midland and 59 miles south of Lubbock. The town grew up along the railroad in the early twentieth century, and its economy has long centered on cotton, the dominant crop across the surrounding farmland of the county.
