La Joya, Texas
La Joya is a city in Hidalgo County in the western Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, set in the flat farm country a short distance north of the Rio Grande. It lies about 15 miles west of McAllen along the U.S. Highway 83 corridor that threads through the valley. The surrounding area is agricultural, part of the borderland stretching west toward Starr County.
