Jayton, Texas

Jayton lies in Kent County on the rolling plains of West Texas, about 74 miles northwest of Abilene and southeast of Lubbock, in dry ranching and cotton country near the edge of the Caprock escarpment. The surrounding landscape is open grassland and mesquite rangeland cut by draws that feed the Salt Fork of the Brazos River. It serves as a small trade point for the sparsely populated ranchland around it.
