Gun Barrel City is a city in Henderson County, in the East Texas Piney Woods region, about 49 miles west of Tyler and roughly 50 miles southeast of Dallas. It lies along the shore of Cedar Creek Reservoir, a large lake that shapes much of the local landscape and draws boaters, anglers, and lakeside residents. The area sits at the western edge of the wooded, lake-dotted country of East Texas.
