Glen Rose lies along the Paluxy River in Somervell County, about 43 miles southwest of Fort Worth where the prairie meets the wooded hills of North Central Texas. The town is widely known for Dinosaur Valley State Park, where fossilized dinosaur tracks are preserved in the bed of the Paluxy River. Nearby Fossil Rim Wildlife Center, a large drive-through wildlife park, draws additional visitors to the area.
