Granbury sits on the shore of Lake Granbury along the Brazos River in Hood County, about 34 miles southwest of Fort Worth on the edge of North Texas. The town is centered on a well-preserved historic courthouse square, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, with a limestone county courthouse and 19th-century storefronts. The lake, formed by a dam on the Brazos, has made recreation and tourism central to the area.
