Forsan is a very small city in Howard County, in the Permian Basin country of West Texas, roughly 43 miles east of Midland. The town grew up in the oil fields of the region, and its name reflects the multiple sands, or petroleum-bearing formations, found beneath the surrounding flat, semi-arid plains.
