Chireno, Texas
Chireno lies in the Piney Woods of East Texas, in Nacogdoches County east of the city of Nacogdoches. The community sits along the route of El Camino Real de los Tejas, the old Spanish road between Nacogdoches and San Augustine that today carries State Highway 21 through town. Named for Jose Antonio Chireno, an early Spanish landholder in the area, it grew as a waypoint on that historic corridor amid the rolling pine and hardwood forests of the region.
