Cameron, Texas

The seat of Milam County, Cameron sits on the Little River amid the fertile Blackland Prairie of Central Texas, about 41 miles northwest of College Station. Agriculture, and cotton in particular, shaped the town through the 19th and 20th centuries, and farming and ranching still dominate the surrounding countryside. The community grew up around the county courthouse at the crossing of the region's early highways.
