Stormwater Rules Matter for Williamson County Development

When land is cleared or graded in Williamson County, drainage can become more than a fence-line fight. The county stormwater plan covers construction runoff. It also covers how stormwater is handled after new building or rebuilding.

The federal TPDES rules apply only in the urbanized areas outside city limits that the county identifies. The county also has a hotline for illicit discharge. Sewage, oil, heavy silt, solvents, and trash do not belong in ditches, storm sewers, creeks, or rivers.

Before grading, sort out the county development, runoff, and stormwater steps. Changing where water leaves a property is exactly what those rules are meant to catch.
