Large Bexar County Events May Need a Mass Gathering Permit

A big concert, festival, race, or outdoor market on rural Bexar County land can need a mass gathering permit. The application has to reach the County Judge at least 45 days before the event.

That early window gives the county time to review safety, sanitation, traffic, and emergency plans under the Texas Mass Gatherings Act. Vendors, parking, and promotion all need to work backward from that date.

The county permit may not be the only one. Food service, open flame, alcohol, traffic control, and city jurisdiction can each add more steps.
