Near a Coryell County Creek? The Floodplain Administrator Gets a Say

Floodplain issues have a named county lane: the Floodplain Administrator and the Development Permit Application. That is where building, filling, or setting a structure in a mapped flood area starts.

The rules also show up during land splits. If a plat includes improvements in the 100-year floodplain, the county requires a completed floodplain permit application with the plat.

For land near the Leon River, Cowhouse Creek, or a smaller branch, check the floodplain map before you pick a driveway, septic field, or building pad. Moving a drawing is easier than redoing work after review.
