Disabled parking placards use the Travis tax office

Disabled parking placards and plates in Travis County go through the tax office. One rule is easy to forget: the placard is only for the person with the disability, or for someone driving that person.

The application starts with TxDMV Form VTR-214. A doctor or other approved health care provider fills out the disability section, then the form goes to the county tax office with any payment due.

A permanent blue placard has no fee. A temporary red placard costs $5. Permanent, temporary, and disabled-veteran placards each have their own proof and renewal rules.
