The floodplain line is not the edge of Hays County permit review

A flood map is not the edge of county review. In rural Hays County, clearing, dirt work, fill, roads, slabs, sheds, pools, and parking may need a permit. This can be true inside or outside the floodplain.

One key exception covers indoor work on a single-family home outside the floodplain. That work does not need a county development permit. Fire, septic, drive, or land-split rules may still apply.
