Weir is a small city in Williamson County, lying just a few miles northeast of Georgetown at the edge of the Central Texas prairie. The surrounding land is a mix of blackland prairie and gently rolling farm country, and the community has increasingly felt the growth pressing outward from the Georgetown and Round Rock corridor. Austin lies about 30 miles to the south.
