Southmayd, Texas

Southmayd is a small city in Grayson County in North Texas, sitting along State Highway 56 west of Sherman and about 30 miles north of McKinney, in the gently rolling farmland near the Red River. The community grew up along the tracks of the Texas and Pacific Railway, which crossed the land from which the town took its name. It remains a small residential and agricultural town in the northern reaches of the region.
