Roma, Texas

Roma is a city in Starr County, in the Rio Grande Valley about 48 miles northwest of McAllen, sitting on bluffs above the Rio Grande along the border. The town preserves a district of nineteenth-century brick and adobe buildings from its era as a busy river port, and this historic core has been recognized as a National Historic Landmark. The surrounding country is dry brushland of the lower valley.
