Prairie View, Texas

Prairie View is a small city in Waller County, on the coastal-plain prairie about 42 miles northwest of Houston. It is best known as the home of Prairie View A&M University, one of the state's historically Black land-grant universities, which anchors the community and shapes much of local life. The surrounding country is flat farmland and pasture in the upper Gulf Coast region.
