Oyster Creek is a small city on the flat coastal plain of Brazoria County, about 38 miles southwest of Galveston near the mouth of the Brazos River. It sits within the heavily industrial lower-Brazos corridor around Freeport and Lake Jackson, a stretch of the Upper Gulf Coast dominated by petrochemical plants, and shares its name with the tidal waterway that winds through the surrounding marsh and prairie. The city is largely residential, ringed by wetlands, waterways, and the refineries and chemical works that anchor the regional economy.
