Muenster, Texas

Muenster is a small city in Cooke County, in the rolling cross-timbers country of north-central Texas along U.S. Highway 82, about 33 miles northwest of Denton. It was established as a German Catholic colony and named for the city of Münster in Westphalia, and it has kept that heritage alive through its cuisine, family names, and an annual Germanfest held each spring. Local meat markets and bakeries are known for traditional German sausage, breads, and pastries.
