Mont Belvieu, Texas
Set on the coastal prairie of Chambers County about 30 miles east of Houston, Mont Belvieu sits atop large underground salt domes that are used to store natural gas liquids and petrochemical feedstocks. The town has grown alongside the petrochemical and energy-storage industry that defines the upper Gulf Coast, and its position near the Houston Ship Channel corridor ties it closely to that regional economy.
