Laguna Vista is a town in Cameron County in the Rio Grande Valley of far South Texas, about 18 miles northeast of Brownsville. It sits on the mainland shore of the Laguna Madre, the shallow hypersaline lagoon that separates the coast from South Padre Island, and lies along the route between Port Isabel and the barrier island beaches. The surrounding low coastal landscape of wetlands and salt flats makes the area a well-known destination for birding and sportfishing.
