Jacksonville, Texas

Jacksonville lies in the rolling, wooded hills of Cherokee County in the Piney Woods of East Texas, about 27 miles south of Tyler. The surrounding country of red clay soils and pine and hardwood forest has long been tied to agriculture, and the area is closely associated with tomato growing, a crop for which the town is widely known. Lake Jacksonville, a reservoir on the edge of the city, provides water and recreation for the region.
