Gallatin, Texas

Gallatin is a small farming community in Cherokee County, set in the rolling Piney Woods of East Texas about 33 miles south of Tyler. It grew up along the railroad in a truck-farming district and long served as a shipping point for tomatoes and other produce hauled out to market. The surrounding country is a mix of pine and hardwood forest, pasture, and small cropland typical of the region.
