Flatonia, Texas

Flatonia is a town in Fayette County, in the rolling country of Central Texas roughly 51 miles southeast of San Marcos. It grew up as a railroad town in the 1870s when the Southern Pacific line reached the area, and rail heritage remains part of its identity, including a historic railroad switching tower that has drawn railfans and preservation interest. The surrounding region carries a strong Czech and German settlement history, with the nearby community of Praha long a center of that heritage.
