Cross Plains, Texas

Cross Plains is a small town in Callahan County, about 40 miles southeast of Abilene in the rolling rangeland and mesquite country of west-central Texas. It is known as the longtime home of pulp-fiction writer Robert E. Howard, the creator of Conan the Barbarian, whose house there is preserved as a museum.
