Bridgeport, Texas

Bridgeport is a city in Wise County in the North Texas cross timbers, about 41 miles northwest of Fort Worth and roughly 38 miles west of Denton. The town lies beside Lake Bridgeport, a reservoir on the West Fork of the Trinity River that draws boaters and anglers to the surrounding rangeland and wooded hills. Coal mining and clay figured in the area's earlier economy, and the town remains a trade center for the ranching country around it.
