Vehicle Dealers File Inventory Tax Reports Monthly

Vehicle inventory tax is a special property tax for licensed dealers. In El Paso County, the Tax Assessor-Collector handles collection and dealer compliance.

Covered dealers file an annual declaration and monthly reports on Comptroller forms. The monthly statement is due by the 10th of each month. The tax prepayment goes to the county Tax Assessor-Collector.

This is not a tax on ordinary buyers. It matters if you are opening, buying, or running a dealership. Late reports can create penalties that are easier to avoid than fix.
