Setting a manufactured home in Hardin County? The permit is on you, not the dealer

Manufactured homes are common on rural tracts around Kountze, Lumberton, and Saratoga. Before one is placed in Hardin County, the county requires a manufactured home placement permit. The fee is $100 per home.

Do not assume the dealer or transporter handles that permit. The job belongs to the customer, buyer, or homeowner, not the dealer and not the transporter. Even if the hauler is handling the move, the property paperwork can still land on you.

Other permits may come with it. Grading a pad can trigger a residential development permit. A new entrance can mean a culvert permit. Low ground in a flood hazard area brings in the Floodplain Administrator. Sort those questions out before the truck rolls.
