Lumberton is a city in Hardin County, in the Big Thicket country of Southeast Texas about 13 miles north of Beaumont. It lies amid the pine woods and dense forest that give the surrounding region its name, near the edge of the Big Thicket National Preserve. Its own name reflects the timber and lumber industry that historically drove the area, and it has grown as a residential community in the greater Beaumont area.
