Lake Casa Blanca Is Also a Birding Lake
Lake Casa Blanca International State Park is the state park inside Laredo, best known for boating, fishing, and camping. TPWD's Laredo Loop adds a birding angle most visitors never notice.
TPWD calls the reservoir a haven for pelicans, wading birds, waterfowl, terns, and gulls. Mesquite Bend Trail is the desert-bird side of the park. At sunset, Mexican free-tailed bats can stream out near the dam.
Water, brush, and desert-edge wildlife overlap here in one afternoon. TPWD keeps the current park fees, access, trail notes, water alerts, and birding news.
