Call the Sheriff Before You Burn Brush in Anderson County

East Texas can dry out fast in late summer. Before you light brush or storm debris on rural land, call the Anderson County Sheriff's non-emergency line at 903-729-6068. The county uses that line for burn-ban status and planned-burn reports.

Texas usually bans outdoor burning unless the fire fits a TCEQ exception. The material, purpose, place, weather, and other conditions all matter. A lifted county ban does not create an exception.

The fire must also follow county, city, subdivision, and fire-department rules. Never burn tires, treated lumber, shingles, business trash, or material that may make toxic smoke.
