Austin Right-of-Way Work Needs a ROW Permit
In Austin, the right-of-way is the public ground used by streets, sidewalks, curbs, utilities, and parking lanes. Work in that space, or work that borrows part of it, can need a city ROW permit.
Driveways, sidewalks, curb and gutter, street cuts, lane closures, parking-space use, and utility work can all land in this process. Some jobs also need fees, traffic control, or a licensed contractor.
For a driveway repair, street cut, sidewalk closure, or utility line, the Austin Build + Connect portal is where the ROW process starts.
