Some Austin Venues Need Fire Permits Before Opening
Some Austin businesses need fire permits before the public walks in. Austin Fire issues permits tied to public gatherings, hazardous materials, fire systems, and prescribed burns.
One example is the Annual Public Assembly permit. It can apply to public places with room for 50 or more people. It also looks at alcohol sales: 51 percent or more of gross sales.
That is separate from a food permit, building permit, or TABC license. A venue, bar, large restaurant, event space, or warehouse-style business should sort out the fire-permit question early.
