Winona, Texas

Winona is a small town in Smith County, tucked into the pine-and-hardwood forest of East Texas about 12 miles from Tyler. The community took shape in the late 1800s as a station on an early East Texas rail line, and cotton and timber figured in its early growth. It remains a small rural town amid the surrounding woods and farmland.
