Whitney is a town in Hill County, in the North Texas prairie country about 30 miles northwest of Waco and roughly 55 miles south of Fort Worth. It sits near Lake Whitney, a large reservoir formed by a dam on the Brazos River, and the nearby state park and lakeshore make recreation a central part of local life. Boating, fishing, and lake tourism draw visitors to the area through much of the year.
