Troup, Texas
Troup is a small city straddling Smith and Cherokee counties in the East Texas Piney Woods, about 18 miles southeast of Tyler. The surrounding country is wooded and rolling, historically supporting timber, cotton, and, in the wider region, oil production. The town developed as a rail and trade stop serving the farms and communities of the area.
